As of the Spring semester of 2007, no new applicants will be accepted into the program. The program is being phased out. Only students accepted prior to start of the Spring semester of 2007 may continue coursework.
Designed for individuals who wish to change careers, or need to complete additional coursework, beyond the Bachelor’s degree, in order to obtain Initial Licensure. Upon successful completion of their prescribed program, students will be sponsored for Initial Licensure as teachers in Massachusetts public school systems. Individuals who wish to continue studying at Suffolk University may apply to our Master’s of Education program and have up to 6 credit hours waived.

EHS 516 Practicum: Secondary School Teaching (3 to 6 credits)
Each candidate must interview with the Program Director prior to matriculating for purposes of transcript review. Some candidates may be required to perform additional coursework in their selected subject matter, i.e. mathematics or history, in order to meet the competency requirements established by the Massachusetts Department of Education. Some candidates may waive up to 12 credit hours in light of equivalent courses taken elsewhere, relevant life experiences and/or related activities.
