Admissions

To be considered for admission into the Economics Ph.D. program, applicants must meet the following requirements and complete the application process:

•  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Graduate Record Examination (GRE) taken within the past five years with
• A combined score of 1100 or above in Quantitative and Verbal sections
• A score of 3.5 or above in Analytical Writing section
• Three letters of recommendation, including at least one from academia
• Undergraduate courses completed in microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics, and at least one course in calculus
• TOEFL score of 575 or above on a paper and pencil test, or 230 on a computerized test only for international students whose native language is not English
• Waived for international students who have earned a bachelor’s degree from an American college or university within the last two years.

Financial aid

The Ph.D. program offers various levels of financial support. Outstanding candidates for full-time study may receive full financial awards, including full tuition waiver up to three years and teaching or research assistantship. Partial financial awards are offered to qualified full-time students. Excellent candidates for part-time study may be awarded a tuition waiver. Additional opportunities exist for grants and scholarships.
