• Master of Science in Crime and Justice Studies
Criminal justice is one of the fastest growing fields of employment in both the public and private sector. A master’s degree is the credential that will set you apart and help you advance in this profession. Many employers have raised their entry-level requirements, while encouraging their current employees to develop additional professional credentials.

The Master of Science in Crime and Justice Studies is designed for mid-career working professionals as well as for those who seek to enter the fields of:

  • Probation
  • Policing
  • Corrections
  • Juvenile justice
  • Victim advocacy
  • Court and offender services
  • Criminal justice policy

The Crime and Justice Studies Program, a part of the Department of Sociology at Suffolk University, combines intellectual breadth and depth with a pragmatic, career-oriented focus.

  • The core courses provide a foundation in the areas of law, criminology and applied research.
  • The option requirements allow students to choose their own areas for specific application of theory and research methods.
  • Related electives include graduate courses in public administration, mental health counseling, psychology, human services, business administration, communications and government.

All courses are offered in the late afternoon/evening in order to meet the scheduling needs of working professionals. You may attend either full- or part-time, and may begin the program in either the fall or spring semester or in the summer. Full-time students can complete the program in 12 months.

An internship program is available whether you are pursuing specialized concentrations or are in the general program. You can gain academic credit and experience in the field through one of a wide range of placement options.
