Holistic Perspective

To help students develop a holistic perspective on women’s health, MAWH courses highlight the diversity of women and their health issues across race, class, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, national identity, and health/disability status, as well as emphasize skill- and career-building with community partners through a required internship program. The Program thus enables students to develop intellectual power and practical experience in an integrated way to help them in subsequent job seeking.

Meet the Need for Women’s Health Professionals
Suffolk’s MAWH program is designed both for recent college graduates and for people already working fields related to women’s health and well being. Graduates of this program will be prepared to meet the growing demand for non-clinical professionals in areas such as:

    • Cross-cultural women’s health training
    • Domestic violence intervention
    • AIDS/HIV education and prevention
    • Reproductive health policy
    • Women’s health promotion
    • Geriatrics
    • Patient advocacy

This program provides strong preparation for successful careers in areas such as these for which little formal training currently exists.

Choose Flexibility: Study Full- or Part-Time
While this program only enrolls for the fall semester, you may choose either a full- or part-time course program. The full-time option includes two semesters of course work plus one semester of an internship in women’s health. The part-time option allows for course work and internships to be completed over three or more calendar years (six or more semesters). In either case, courses are mainly taught in the evening, enabling you to hold a daytime job while completing your degree. Suffolk University also offers several innovative financial aid programs to help you finance your education. Visit www.suffolk.edu/finaid for more information.
