  • What are the department’s office hours?
    The Psychology Department office is open Monday through Friday, 8:45 AM to 4:45 PM. The office is open during the winter intercession, during Spring Break, and during the summer, but the office closes for all federal and city holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
  • Who is the Department Chairperson?
    The Psychology Department Chairperson is Dr. Krisanne Bursik. She can be contacted at (617) 573-8295 or kbursik@suffolk.edu.
  • Who is the Director of Clinical Training?
    The Director of Clinical Training for our Ph.D. program is Dr. Gary Fireman. He can be reached at 617-305-6368 or gfireman@suffolk.edu.
  • What are my professor’s office hours?

  • What are the major/minor/honors requirements?
    All information regarding the Psychology Major and Minor and the Honors program can be found in separate pages on our website. Go to the Main Page to be linked to one of these locations.
  • What are the advising procedures for psychology majors?
    All students are assigned an advisor from the Psychology Faculty upon declaring a Psychology major. This advisor will help you plan your courses, and he or she will sign off on your registration each semester. No other professor can do this for you. If you have any questions, please see the department staff.
  • How can I complete my research requirement?
    All General Psychology students are required to complete a given amount of research participation. You can do this in one of two ways: 1) you can sign up for a research study (see the yellow sheets near the elevators), or 2) you can write a brief report on two different articles from the Annual Editions book (ask for this book at the Psychology Department office).   • What happens if I don’t fulfill my research requirement for Psychology 114?
    Students who do not complete this requirement will receive an Incomplete for Psych 114. We advise all students to complete this requirement early, as there may not always be research studies in which to participate. If you cannot find a study to sign up for, you may complete option two. See the Research Participation Requirement Page for detailed information on your options.
  • What can I do with my degree?
    There are many options for a person with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. The department has several books detailing job possibilities for psychology majors; come to the Psychology Office to sign these out. The department also has a resource page of links that provide career information. The Career Services and Co-op offices are also useful resources. They can tell you more about recent job placements of graduates with similar degrees. Also, it’s helpful to think about graduate school. Many psychology graduates have gone on to Master’s programs in Mental Health Counseling (see the Education and Human Services department), School Psychology, Social Work, and many other non-psychology Master’s programs, as well as Ph.D. and Psy.D. programs. Feel free to discuss your career options with your advisor!
