Features of the New Curriculum for Students Who Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences prior to Fall 2007.
In the fall of 2007, the College of Arts and Sciences will implement a new curriculum, while keeping the best parts of our former curriculum.
What the fall 2007 semester will bring
Choice: You will have fewer required core courses and more free electives.
Depth: Most courses will carry 4 credits. All faculty members have reshaped their courses to probe more deeply into the subject matter.
Focus: You will be able to focus your attention by taking fewer but deeper courses each semester. A typical full-time course load will move from the current 5 courses to 4 courses each semester. This will have no impact on your progress toward graduation, beacuse each course will be worth 4 credits instead of 3.
Interaction: We will continue our commitment to small classes.
Diversity will remain a key feature of our curriculum. Courses focusing on diversity within and outside the United States will expose you to cultures and peoples different from your own.
