I grew up in Parker, Colorado and graduated from Ponderosa High School in 1999. I originally got interested in Psychology after high school when I traveled with a group called Up With People for one year. I completed over 480 hours of community service in 9 different countries visiting psychiatric hospitals, nursing homes, orphanages, women’s shelters, and AIDS resource centers to name a few. I was fascinated to explore what it is that motivates different people, and discovered the powerful influence that culture has on an individual’s behavior and personality.
I attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where I received my Bachelors Degree in Psychology. I discovered that I was fascinated with the brain and how it relates to behavior and this led me to the Sensory Learning Institute in Boulder, Colorado, where I worked as a technician administering sensory therapies to children with Pervasive Developmental Disorders through college. I accepted my first position out of college at Massachusetts General Hospital performing anatomical and functional MRIs, administering neuropsychological testing, and coordinating clinical trials in neurodegenerative diseases. During those two years, I coordinated and conducted neuropsychological testing for an observational, longitudinal study using a combination of experimental and clinical cognitive tests to identify specific measures that are sensitive to pre-clinical changes in Huntington’s Disease. I started at Suffolk University in the neuropsychology track in the fall of 2007 and am currently working to establish what my line of research will be.
