Born and raised in the suburbs of New Jersey, I experienced a bit of culture shock when I moved to upstate New York to attend Union College. Having fallen in love with the fall foliage, I stayed and went on to receive my BS in Psychology, with a minor in Eastern Philosophy. My senior thesis, “The Impact of Distractions on Heuristic Processing: Internet Ads and Stereotypes,” was accepted for publication in the March 2007 issue of the Journal of Applied Social Psychology. After graduating from Union in 2004, I worked for one year at the Gender Equity Project of Hunter College in New York City before moving to Boston in order to pursue my Ph.D in Clinical Neuropsychology.

My Early Research Project, defended in May 2007, focused on a specific type of attention: awareness of sensory changes in the environment. The final product, “Awareness of the Environment: Cross-Modal Inattentional Blindness,” received the Nelson Butters Award for outstanding scholarship and best poster at the Massachusetts Neuropsychological Society Annual Science Symposium in June.

My primary clinical and research interests lie in the areas of brain imaging and cognitive rehabilitation for brain injury. Upon completion of my doctorate, I hope to work with diverse patient populations in the public health sector, with the intention of assisting neurologically impaired persons in their struggle to achieve an optimal level of individual and social functioning. In my spare time (which isn’t much!), I enjoy reading, camping, playing the guitar, going to concerts, traveling, and smothering my cat, Tilly, with love.
