It is everyone’s responsibility to use our planet’s natural resources wisely—and environmental engineers are leading the way. Environmental engineering encompasses air and water quality management, water and wastewater treatment, solid waste (both hazardous and non-hazardous) management and treatment, pollution abatement and control—and the newer areas of green engineering and sustainable design.
Suffolk’s Environmental Engineering program is designed for students with appropriate backgrounds in math, physics, and chemistry. Our program provides foundation courses in math, science, and computer programming; foundation courses in engineering, and specialized courses in environmental engineering topics. Sustainable design concepts are emphasized. Our curriculum culminates in a senior capstone project involving field work, laboratory research, and/or the construction of a device to solve a real-world environmental problem. Undergraduate research and community outreach/service learning are encouraged at all levels of study.
