Sociology studies society, social systems, and the relationships individuals have with these systems and with one another. A major in Sociology fosters critical thinking and strong oral and written communication skills. It is an opportunity to become involved in social systems work and to analyze and explain the social concepts and perspectives that drive a variety of social issues.
The major in sociology offers students a traditional general sociology experience, as well as specialized programs (i.e., Criminology and Law and Health and Human Services) which enhance students’ career options and reflect special research interests of the faculty.
