Frequently asked questions about the Scholarship to Develop Leadership in African American Women’s Health offered by the Master of Arts in Women’s Health Program at Suffolk University.

Q: Can I apply for the scholarship without applying to the Master of Arts in Women’s Health program at Suffolk University?
A: No. This scholarship is only available for students enrolled in the Master of Arts in Women’s Health program at Suffolk University.

Q: Do you have, or plan to offer, a PhD program?
A: We do not currently have, or plan to offer a PhD program.

Q: Is there a distance learning option, or must I attend classes in Boston?
A: The Scholarship recipient must live in the Boston area to attend classes. There is no on-line option at this time.

Q: Can the Scholarship recipient attend the program part time?
A: No. The Scholarship recipient is expected to attend the MAWH program full time.

Q: Do I need to take the GRE’s?
A: Yes, although they may be waived if your GPA is 3.4 or higher, or if you have 3+ years experience working in women’s health. In order to request a waiver, send your college transcript and your resume to mawh@suffolk.edu. Please put “Waiver Request” in the subject heading.

Q: I am still an undergraduate. Can I apply?
A: Only if you are a graduating senior with enough credits to complete your application for graduate school.

Q: I have been out of school for a while, or I’m an older student. Can I still apply?
A: Absolutely. If it is appropriate for you to apply to our graduate program in Women’s Health, then you may also apply for the scholarship.

Q: Do I need to have a particular undergraduate major to apply for the Scholarship?
A: No. We accept students with a variety of backgrounds. If you believe this is the program for you, then we invite you to apply.
