Economics Department Seminars
The seminars have several purposes: they provide a forum for discussing work in progress, a place to learn about recent research, and an opportunity to interact with researchers from inside the economics department and beyond.
All seminars will run from 1:05 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. and, unless otherwise indicated, will take place in the large conference room on the tenth floor of 73 Tremont Street. Seminars will be posted in the fall. Thursday, October 22 - Third Year Presentations by Alex Su and YouRong Xu

Abdoulaye Seck, a PhD candidate and STATS 250 Instructor was awarded "Best Ph.D. Paper" at a conference in Dakar. About hlf of the 500+ papers submitted to the conference were accepted for presentation. Three of the papers by Ph.D. studnts wer selected as "Best Ph.D. Papers", and of these, Abdoulaye’s paper wond the first prize. His paper is entitled "International Technology Diffusion: Explaining the Spillover Benefits to Developing Countries." Abdoulaye writes that "this proze I think belongs to all the Department ... as a result of the delightful interactions I have with everybody in the department ... thanks a lot, and thanks to all."
Two Ph.D. students, Dmitriy Kha and Evgeny Vorotnikov, were awarded Charles G. Koch Summer Fellow Internship positions with the Beacon Hill Institute starting June 2009.
