A major in International Economics is designed for the student who is interested in a career in international business, management, government or law.

The Department of Economics and the Department of Humanities and Modern Languages jointly offer two career-oriented programs that combine the study of international economics with knowledge of a foreign language and the politics, history, and cultures of other countries. Within the International Economics major, there are two opportunities:
International Economics is offered in both the BA and BS degrees

The Bachelor of Science in International Economics

The Bachelor of Science in International Economics is designed for students who are interested studying economics within the context our new the global economy.  Students who wish to acquire a strong background in the science of economics should choose the BS degree, which emphasizes economic decision-making within a global environment. Students choosing the BS degree are required to take 1 two-semester sequence in French, German, Italian or Spanish in addition to the general major requirements.

The Bachelor of Arts in International Economics

The Bachelor of Arts in International Economics is designed for students who are interested in delving more deeply into the culture, and history of international politics that impact economies. Accordingly, there is a stronger emphasis on language. Students who wish to acquire a broad liberal arts preparation with a strong emphasis on languages and cultures should choose the BA degree.
