To be considered for Honors in History a student must satisfy the following criteria:
Students interested in the Honors program should consult with the Chair of the History Department before the first semester of their Junior year.
Qualifying students must have a 3.5 overall G.P.A. as well as a 3.5 G.P.A. in History courses.
Honors candidates should register for History 503 (History: Theory & Practice 4 credits) during the Junior or Senior year. Registration in this course must be approved by the Chair of the Department.
During the Junior or Senior year Honors candidates should register for History 500 (Directed Study, 4 credits). They should use this course to complete a research paper under the guidance of a major Professor.
The research paper must be discussed and approved by the entire History Department.
