Consumer Information

Under Title IV, institutions participating in federal financial aid programs must disclose specified information to all prospective students, applicants, current students, and employees. This page contains information on the following topics:

General Institutional Information

  • FERPA Policy

    In accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act, Suffolk University has adopted certain procedures to protect the privacy rights of its students. The procedures apply to students in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Sawyer Business School, as well as the Law School.
  • Facilities and Services for Students with Disabilities

    Both the Office of Disability Services and the Law School’s Dean of Students Office provide special services and facilities to students with disabilities.

    Suffolk University’s Net Price Calculator is available to help current and prospective students, families and other consumers estimate the cost of a Suffolk University education.
  • Refund Policy & Requirements for Withdrawal and Return of Federal Financial Aid

    Suffolk University publishes its policies for officially withdrawing from its Undergraduate, Graduate, and Law School programs. Due to the potential financial implications of withdrawal from Suffolk University, students considering withdrawal should be aware of the policies and procedures followed by the Office of the Bursar in the event of a withdrawal.

    Suffolk University offers Undergraduate, Graduate, Graduate Certificate, and Law School programs.
  • Instructional Facilities

    Suffolk University’s instructional, laboratory, and other physical plant facilities are located on Beacon Hill and in downtown Boston.

    Suffolk University awards transfer credit for academic work completed at other institutions pursuant to its Undergraduate, Graduate College of Arts and Sciences, Graduate Sawyer Business School, and Law School policies.

  • Accreditation, Approval & Licensure of Institution and Programs

    Suffolk University has accreditation to offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 70 areas of study.

    Suffolk University is authorized by statute to operate as a postsecondary educational institution and confer degrees in Massachusetts.  If you feel that Suffolk University has failed to meet your expectations, you are encouraged to attempt to resolve the issue directly with the University.  If your concerns are not resolved by that process and the concerns relate to the University’s accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, you may file a complaint with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc., 209 Burlington Road, Bedford, MA 01730.  More information regarding the process for filing complaints with NEASC may be found on the NEASC website. Concerns not resolved with the University may also be referred to the Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General, Public Charities Division, One Ashburton Place, Boston, MA 02108.

  • Copyright Infringement

    Suffolk University expects all members of its community to comply with U.S. Copyright law, and to abide by the University’s Copyright Policy.
  • Computer Use and File Sharing

    Suffolk University expects all members of its community to abide by the University’s policy regarding Peer-to-Peer file sharing.

    Suffolk University’s Financial Aid Programs brochure explains the methods by which financial aid is distributed among Suffolk University students.

    Prospective and current students can apply for financial aid in Suffolk University’s Undergraduate, Graduate, and Law School programs. Prospective and current students should be aware of the recommended filing dates for the Undergraduate, Graduate, and Law School programs.

     

  • Rights and responsibilities of students receiving aid

    Undergraduate, Graduate, and Law School students receiving financial aid should be aware of their rights and responsibilities

  • Terms and Conditions of Loans

    Undergraduate students at Suffolk University may be eligible to receive loans under the Federal Family Education Loan Program, the William D. Ford Federal Direct Student Loan Program, and the Federal Perkins Loan Program.Graduate students at Suffolk University may be eligible to receive loans under the Federal Family Education Loan Program, the William D. Ford Federal Direct Student Loan Program, and the Federal Perkins Loan Program. Law students at Suffolk University may be eligible to receive loans under the Federal Family Education Loan Program, the William D. Ford Federal Direct Student Loan Program, and the Federal Perkins Loan Program.

  • Financial Aid Contact Information

    Employees are available in Student Financial Services and Law School Financial Aid to assist students and prospective students who are seeking the information set forth on this page, or other information regarding Suffolk University.

     

  • Satisfactory Academic Progress

    Federal regulations require that students be making satisfactory academic progress in their program of study in order to remain eligible for financial aid. Satisfactory Academic Progress is evaluated for Undergraduate, Graduate, and Law School programs.

     

     

  • Study Abroad may Constitute Enrollment for Aid Purposes

    For purposes of applying for federal financial assistance, enrollment in a study abroad program that has been approved for credit by Suffolk University may be considered enrollment at Suffolk University. Students considering study abroad should consider the financial aid implications of that decision.

Health and Safety

  • Vaccination Policies

     

    The Massachusetts Department of Health requires that all full time students and all international students submit certain immunization records to Suffolk University. Those requirements are set forth in the Undergraduate Student Handbook, Graduate Student Handbook, and Law School Handbook.

     

  • Campus Security Policies, Crime Statistics & Crime Log, Fire Safety Policies, Fire Statistics & Fire Log

    Suffolk University annually publishes a Security and Fire Safety Report.This report includes important information about the University, including crime statistics, fire statistics, emergency and crime reporting procedures, missing persons policies and procedures, drug and alcohol policies, sexual assault policies and reporting procedures, crime prevention programs, and fire safety. Suffolk University’s 2012 Security and Fire Safety is available on-line at: http://www.suffolk.edu/documents/University_20Police_20PDF/annual_security_and_fire_safety_report_2012.pdf .     Suffolk University has enacted a Missing Person Policy to be followed in the event a student who resides in on-campus housing has been reported missing.

Athletics

The Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act requires co-educational institutions of post-secondary education that participate in a Title IV federal student financial assistance program and have an intercollegiate athletic program to prepare an annual report to the Department of Education.  This report includes information on athletic participation, staffing, and revenues and expenses.  Suffolk University’s report can be obtained from the Department of Education or by contacting the Suffolk University Athletics Department at (617) 573-8379.
