Dear Members of the Suffolk University Community,

As you know, for the safety of all and in accordance with law enforcement instructions, the University is closed today. All members of the campus community were alerted this morning through our notification system.

Police are searching for a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing after a deadly confrontation last night. MBTA service throughout Greater Boston was shut down this morning. The City of Boston has asked residents to stay indoors and away from windows. And officials have advised residents in Watertown, Newton, Waltham, Belmont, Cambridge and Brookline to do the same. Additional information is available from the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency.

We will remain in close communication with the Suffolk community and update you as information becomes available. We ask that you be attentive to news developments and monitor today's online Emergency Alert for campus updates.

Employees whose duties include health, safety or other critical operations will ensure that those functions can continue.

Members of the Suffolk University community continue to stand together in support of one another and in support of the city of Boston.
