Starting Monday March 26, a random selection of Suffolk employees and off-campus students will receive an email asking them to partake in a brief online survey regarding their commuting practices.
This survey is part of The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection’s (MassDEP) “Rideshare” air quality regulation (310 CMR 7.16) which requires large employers or educational facilities to periodically survey employees and students to determine their commuting patterns and to provide programs that will encourage employees and students to use sustainable commuting modes (public transit, carpool/vanpool, biking, and walking).
"In order for our survey to be valid, we need to achieve a certain response rate, and so it is very important for students and employees who receive the survey to participate," said Campus Sustainability Coordinator Erica Mattison, who coordinates the University's Rideshare report.
The survey takes approximately two minutes to complete. The survey results will serve as the basis for the data supplied in the University's 2012 Rideshare Report. In addition, the feedback provided by survey participants assists University administrators in understanding commuting practices and interests among Suffolk students and employees.
