A selection of topics in algebra and elementary analytic geometry including (but not restricted to): properties of real numbers, linear equations and inequalities, absolute value equations and inequalities, polynomials, rational expressions, exponents and radicals, quadratic equations, functions, linear, quadratic, and polynomial models, rational, exponential and logarithmic functions. Applications and graphs are stressed throughout the course. This course is intended to prepare students who have only had one year of high school algebra to take MATH 134.

Theory is presented informally and topics and techniques are limited to polynomials, rational functions, logarithmic and exponential functions. (This course cannot be used to satisfy core or complementary requirements by students majoring in biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, mathematics or physics.)
