Freshman English I ENG 101 - 4 credits

This foundation course is designed to increase the student’s capacity to read and write correctly and logically. Study of the essay as a literary form, and frequent writing assignments, both expository and argumentative.

Freshman English II ENG 102 - 4 credits

A continuation of ENG 101. Training in critical reading and writing, the mechanics of research, the writing of a term paper, and additional writing based on assigned readings in imaginative literature.

English Literature I ENG 213 - 4 credits

Study of major writers of England from the beginning to the mid 18th century. Regularly assigned essays on the reading provide the basis for individualized instruction in clear, correct, and persuasive writing.

American Literature ENG 215 - 4 credits

Study of major American writing and thought from the Puritan age to the present. Regularly assigned essays on reading provide the basis for individualized instruction in clear, correct, and persuasive writing.
