Students Resources

With a design library of current sources, a materials library modeled on those in professional design firms, and a professional-quality lighting lab, NESADSU offers some exciting resources to help prepares students for the real world.

Local Resources

In addition to on-campus resources, being in the city has an even greater advantage. Right outside the school’s front door are a variety of designer showrooms where students can experience the latest trends in interior furnishings, and talk with sales reps to learn more about the products they sell. Just a short T ride away is the Boston Designer Center, New Englands’ largest collection of designer showrooms that cater exclusively to the trade.

Design Associations

There are several design associations that represent the interests of interior designers and the design community as a whole. These networks were created in an effort to uphold a certain degree of quality, professionalism, and education within the community.

ASID – American Society of Interior Designers

IIDA – International Interior Design Association

IDEC – Interior Design Educators Council, Inc.

USGBC – United States Green Building Council

In addition to these associations is the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exam which must be taken in order to license or certify interior designer in qualifying states, as well as to become an NCIDQ professional member.
