Two Rams sluggers were the top conference players this spring, as the baseball, softball and tennis teams picked up an array of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) awards.

Hard-hitting Mike Cunningham was named GNAC Baseball Player of the Year, and conference standout Erin McAndrews was Softball Player of the Year.

Both players also earned first-team All-Conference honors and were selected to the playoff All-Tournament team.

McAndrews, a junior catcher, finished the season as Suffolk’s leader in almost every offensive category. In 37 games, she batted .479 and had 26 extra-base hits, including five home runs, 15 doubles and six triples. She drove in 42 runs and had a slugging percentage of .838. She also held an 18-game hitting streak during the year.

Cunningham, a senior right fielder, currently leads all GNAC players with a .424 batting average, nine home runs, .513 on-base percentage and .720 slugging percentage. He is second in the conference with 42 RBIs. At present he is the top home run producer in the Division III New England Region.

The baseball team posts a record of 28-10 to date, with more games slated following final exams week.

The softball squad completed the season with a 16-25 record. Although the Rams entered the GNAC Tournament as the number eight seed, the rams advanced to the championship game, where they fell to St. Joseph's College of Maine, 8-0.

The Rams’ men’s tennis team advanced to the 2013 GNAC championship, but its hopes for a fifth straight conference crown fell short with a 5-4 loss to Rampao College in the finals.
