The Suffolk University Rams Baseball team topped the Curry College Colonels 11-7 on Thursday, March 17 at the RussMatt College Invitational in Winter Haven, Fla.
With the Rams trailing 4-3 in the top of the sixth inning, freshman Devan Jones hit a laser over the left field fence for a grand slam to cap a five-run inning as Suffolk won their third straight game.
Senior Mark Addesa was 4-for-6 on the day, with two RBIs as the Rams pounded out 19 hits. Jones and senior Mark Annese had three hits each, while sophomores Chris Stanley, Remy Carpinito and freshman Jake Cintolo all chipped in with a pair of hits.
Senior Alex Torres picked up his first win of the season on the mound going six innings allowing four earned runs on six hits, while striking out six.
Sophomore Matt Sliney earned his first career collegiate save pitching the final three frames fanning five Curry hitters.
