The Suffolk University Women's Basketball team got back on the winning track with a 63-51 Great Northeast Athletic Conference win over visiting Emerson College Wednesday night at Suffolk's Regan Gymnasium. The Rams are now 6-1 in the GNAC and 11-7 overall.
The Rams were led by a 24 point performance from freshman Stephanie Zito (Guilford, CT). Zito was 8-19 from the field and 2-5 from three-point range. She also had seven rebounds.
Meghan Tracey (Rehoboth, MA) came one point shy of a double-double as she finished with nine points and 11 rebounds for Suffolk.
Despite the loss, Emerson received 15 points and seven rebounds on 6-12 shooting from Maude Okrah. Lauren Vassallo and Alleigh Marre both added 10 points in the loss.
Free-throws told the story in this game as Suffolk converted on 20 of their 26 attempts from the line. Emerson hit only 16-31 from the free-throw line.
Suffolk outscored Emerson 26-12 in the first half. Emerson was able to outscore Suffolk 39-37 in the second half.
Emerson fell to 3-3 in the GNAC and 11-7 overall with the loss.
