BOSTON, Mass.-- Senior Levi Smith (Tulsa, Okla.) scored 14 points to lead seven players in double figures as Emmanuel shot 59 percent from the field en route to a 116-73 Great Northeast Athletic Conference men’s basketball victory over Suffolk Thursday evening at Regan Gymnasium.

The visiting Saints (5-4, 4-0 Great Northeast) jumped out to an 18-point lead (33-15) midway through the opening 20 minutes of action en route to a 61-29 advantage at the break, and Emmanuel opened the second half with an 11-3 run to extend its edge, pushing that margin to as many as 54 points after intermission.

Juniors Rob Williams-Hinton (Oak Park, Mich.) and Mack Spellman (Clinton, N.Y.), along with sophomore Mike Jackson (New York, N.Y.), each notched 13 points and combined for 17 rebounds in the win for Emmanuel, which also received 12 points each from sophomore Karl Gonzalez (Worcester, Mass.) and freshman Tony Carter-Hill (Baltimore, Md.). Freshman J.P. Ventura (Riva, Md.) rounded out the double figure scoring group with 11 points, six boards and four steals for the Saints, who saw all 13 players dressed for the contest score at least two points. The visitors connected for 10 three-pointers, including three by Ventura, and held a 52-43 rebounding advantage for the evening (including 43 defensive rebounds alone) while enjoying a 22-13 scoring edge from the foul line.

Junior Brian Small (Stoughton, Mass.) notched 11 points and nine rebounds in the setback for the host Rams (2-9, 1-3 Great Northeast), who also received nine points each from sophomore Alan Jaziri (Norwich, Conn.) and freshman Samuel Alexanian (Nashua, N.H.). Junior Kevin Blake (Milford, Conn.) came off the bench to net six points for Suffolk, which shot 36 percent from the field and canned six three-pointers but made only 13 of 31 attempts from the charity stripe for the contest. Emmanuel converted the hosts’ 23 turnovers into 30 points as well while holding a 46-34 scoring advantage in the paint.

Suffolk hosts Johnson & Wales in a Great Northeast outing on Saturday afternoon at Regan Gymnasium beginning at 4:00 p.m., while Emmanuel hosts Mount Ida in a Great Northeast match-up on Saturday afternoon across town at the Jean Yawkey Center beginning at 3:00 p.m.
