College Media Matters, a blog affiliated with the Associated Collegiate Press, calls The Suffolk Journal one of the finest college newspapers in the country.
This latest praise follows Associated Collegiate Press recognition of the Journal with a third-place award in the best college newspaper Web site category in February.
The College Media Matters listing “is a well-deserved mention by a nationally credible college journalism Web site,” said Communication and Journalism Professor Bruce Butterfield, faculty adviser to the Suffolk Journal. “The writers, editors, and photographers of the Journal deserve all the credit for their hard work and dedicated efforts."
The Journal has increased its coverage over the years in news, sports, and arts/entertainment, becoming, “more of a complete newspaper for everyone,” said Butterfield.
“This is a real reward for all of us because we put so much time into what we do,” said Derek Anderson, the new editor of the Suffolk Journal. “It’s a great way to start the new year.”
