Coach Cary McConnell's team beat Daniel Webster in both games of a double header last week, 7-2 and 8-1. In game 1, freshman Joe Roberto (Danvers, MA) pitched a complete game for the victory, giving up just three hits with six strikeouts. Senior Marc Exarhopoulos (Hudson, MA) led the team with two hits in three at-bats with one double and two RBI. In game 2, junior Nick Martinho (Middleton, MA) led the team with two hits in four at-bats, both doubles with two RBI. Sophmore Jake Bruce (Amesbury, MA) was the winning pitcher.
The Rams lost the opening game of the WNEC doubleheader, 7-6 in 8 innings. Suffolk came back to beat WNEC in the second game, 9-2. In game 1, Junior Greg DiMarco (Newton, MA) went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Sophomore Chris Barber
(Belmont, MA) had a two-run single in a three-run fourth that gave the Rams a brief 3-2 lead. Suffolk scored three runs in the top of the
seventh to take a 6-5 lead on a two-run triple by DiMarco and sacrifice fly by freshman Tom Kelly (Milton, MA).
In game 2, the Rams collected 14 hits with Kelly going 2-for-3 with three runs and a RBI. DiMarco went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs. Sophomore Reid Jackson (Burlington, MA) pitched six innings with five strikeouts and two walks for the win.
The Rams host UMass Boston in a non-conference game Monday and then play at Curry on Wednesday before playing Norwich and Emerson in GNAC games over the weekend.
