Training Option 2: Open House Q & A

We invite you to drop in with any RedDot or web site questions to work one-to-one with a member of our team. It’s usually helpful if you have previously taken Author/Editor Training.

Open House sessions can answer basic questions about using the RedDot system or more specific topics including:

  • Web Content Usability
Having information to put on the Web is one thing. Making that content available to the people who need it, and putting it in a form they can use is another matter. Before you attend, please download and read the Web Content Usability Guide.
  • Campus Cruiser Overview
Become familiar with all the tools and capabilities of the web portal. Learn to retrieve Suffolk email, create working groups, committees, to-do lists and tasks with priority assignments within a secure environment, organize your calendar(s) to include both personal calendar information as well as scheduled events.
  • Web Statistics Overview
Learn the basics about what Web statistics can and can’t tell you, and discover how to use Google Analytics to find the stats for your site or page.
  • Live Chat
Chat rooms offer an opportunity to communicate with others by simultaneously sharing information, in the form of text messages, with a group of other users. Find out if it’s the right technology for your communications or community-building activities.

Open House Location, Dates, and Times:

All Open House sessions will be held in the ITS Training Room on the 7th floor of the Sawyer Building from 2 - 4:00 pm.

Training Option 3: Editing Catalog Content

Web Services and the Office of the Registrar offer 3 choices for users who will be editing and updating content in the Academic Catalogs.

Training Session

The full course covers every aspect of content creation and editing for the academic catalogs. If you’ve already taken Content Provider Training, you don’t need to take the full course. If you haven’t worked with RedDot before, attendance at the full 1½ hour training Session is required for access to the system.

Bring your content on a flash drive or disk if it’s ready. The course covers

  • Editing existing content
  • Using the Text Editor
  • Submitting your content to workflow for review, approval and publishing

Open House Session

If you have taken Content Provider Training in the past, you may want to consider a quick brush-up at one of our open house sessions. Authorized Content Providers and editors may come to an Open House Session for a refresher, to get answers, or to update content in an assisted environment. Bring your content on a flash drive or disk.

Academic Catalog CMS User’s Guide

All content providers and editors should download the new Academic Catalog User’s Guide. It is available on CampusCruiser as a shared file in the Catalog Production Committee.  Note that correct text formatting is required so that output is consistent across the range of web, PDF, and print outputs.
