Suffolk University CLEP Credit Granting Policy

To receive credit at Suffolk University, CLEP examinations must be taken prior to your last 30 credits.  CLEP credit will not be awarded in the senior year.  Credit status is determined by the Registrar.

CLEP credit will not be granted for courses that are major requirements.

A maximum of 32 semester hours of credit may be awarded for CLEP examinations.  Of these 32 credits, a maximum of 16 semester hours may be general examinations, and a maximum of 16 semester hours may be subject exams. 

Students enrolled at Suffolk can only earn credit for specific CLEP exams.  Please check the Credit Equivalency list for exams which count for credit at Suffolk.

The CLEP score that you receive must be at the 50th percentile or better in order to receive credit.

Suffolk University students that take either the Biology or Chemistry subject examinations are still required to complete the equivalent laboratory science courses.
