UMS Sawyer has four areas of service:
1. Equipment Distribution
2. Training
3. Graphic Supplies
4. Video/audio tape dubbing & off-air recording
Equipment is to be picked up and returned by faculty requesting the equipment. Students may use equipment for in-class projects only with prior faculty authorization.
We request at least two days prior notice for equipment requests. This is to ensure that:
The following equipment is available:
Overhead projectors or document cameras are located in all classrooms
UMS staff is available for training on all equipment and multimedia classroom use. Please be advised that due to over-scheduling, it is difficult to find empty classrooms to train in while classes are in session. We recommend that you make an appointment with us during the activity periods (T/TH 1-2:30) or set aside some time either before or after your class if you need training. Training typically takes less than 10 minutes, UMS strongly advises formal training in multimedia classrooms prior to use. This will ensure that you will be prepared for each class should you need to utilize media technology.
In addition, UMS provides:
UMS can dub your video and audio cassettes provided they are not copyrighted. If you give us copyrighted material, we will inform you that you must receive permission to copy it.
UMS can tape any off-air programming for you so long as it is used as part of face to face teaching. All off-air recordings must be returned to UMS within 45 days of taping for destruction, per Federal law.
*Please see price list and charge back list for information on prices and charge backs.
The following classrooms have built-in media equipment. All faculty, students, and administration must arrange to be trained in use of the room that they will be using.
