• Policies

University Media Services (UMS) provides media equipment, technical support, service and information to members of the Suffolk University community who wish to use audio, video, and presentation technologies in the classroom, for campus activities, learning, research, and public outreach.

Please take a moment to read our policies.

Charge back policy

UMS provides media equipment and support as part of our mission to enhance classroom teaching and educational initiatives. In order to assist the various departments here at Suffolk University with budget considerations, we provide this charge back policy and price guidelines.

Faculty and Staff

All consumable items, such as videotape, audiotape, markers, flip chart paper, etc. are available as charge back items to faculty and staff of Suffolk University. Non-consumable items, e.g. TV/VCR units, tape recorders, camcorders, LCD projectors, etc. are lent without charge when used as part of face to face teaching or administrative function within the University.

Students

In order to assist students with class projects and presentations, all consumable items are available on a "cash and carry" basis. Non-consumable items used for classroom presentation require a faculty reservation. A limited number of audiotape recorders are available for student use.

Special Events and Outside Groups

Outside groups who use facilities and classrooms at Suffolk may purchase consumable and rent non-consumable media equipment from UMS. Please click here for rental information. A special event is any event that is not part of the face-to-face teaching or administrative function of Suffolk University. These include, but are not limited to: educational conferences, corporate training, private or governmental meetings. When planning an event or hosting a group, contact George Comeau in the Sargent Hall Media Center at 617.305.1600 for a customized quote specific to your needs.
