General Information

The Tutor Program is designed to help students become successful independent learners. Undergraduate and graduate student tutors work with students on applying general academic strategies (note taking, exam prep, text analysis, time management) to their  coursework. Tutors work to help guide students in their learning process to use techniques and resources that may prove successful.

All tutoring is free and offered to all Suffolk University students. Tutors and clients meet up to 2 times a week for one hour sessions throughout the semester.

According to the 2005-2006 data for the Ballotti Learning Center, 98% of the clients matched with a tutor responded that their tutor was available, competent and demonstrated a positive attitude during sessions. Also 92% of the students tutored reported feeling that tutoring helped them to become more independent learners as they applied the study strategies to their courses.
