• Incoming Mail & Package Distribution

Mail Services delivers the mail (First Class mail, small packages, memos, and interdepartmental mail) at least once a day, but some departments will receive two deliveries. The times vary from location to location and can also be affected by late receipt from either of the two Post Offices which serve the University.

DELIVERY SCHEDULE

SAWYER

The Sawyer Mail Services receives mail from the USPS at approximately 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and finishes sorting by 10:30. Deliveries begin on or before 11:00* to all departments served. By 1:30 p.m., there is a bag exchange between Sawyer, Donahue and Sargent Hall. At 2:00 p.m., deliveries are made to 73 Tremont and 20 Ashburton. At 3:00 deliveries are made to the fourth, sixth, and eighth floors of the Sawyer Building and a sweep is done for the remaining departments.

DONAHUE

The Donahue Mail Services receives mail by 9:15 a.m. and is finished sorting by 10:30 a.m. Deliveries begin on or before 10:30* to all departments served. 1 Bowdoin Street is delivered @ this time as well.  At 2:00 p.m. deliveries are made to the Fenton and Ridgeway buildings. A final pick up and delivery of mail for the first, third and fifth floors of the Donahue building occurs at 3:00 p.m. (With the exception of Fridays, when the final pick up occurs at 2:30 p.m.).

SARGENT

The Sargent Hall Mail Services receives mail between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Deliveries begin shortly after the mail is sorted*.  40 Court Street is deliveried @ this time as well.  A final pick up of mail occurs at 3:30 p.m.

PACKAGE DELIVERY

It is the policy of the Campus Mail Services to obtain a signature when delivering packages. In some cases, the person delivering packages will release the package without a signature at the discretion of Mail Services.

Please note:

  • Campus Mail Services does not have the equipment to deliver packages weighing more than 25 lbs. Departments receiving such packages will be notified by Mail Services and are responsible for arranging delivery through the Facilities Department.
  • Mail Services will not be responsible for personal packages; it is the responsibility of the recipient to pick up their packages. Please note, Mail Services will not deliver these packages.
  • Mail Services does not deliver any computer equipment. Due to the size and cost of computer equipment we ask that your department pick it up promptly.

* These times are subject to change on days when the mail delivery from U.S.P.S. is late, mail volume is heavy, a day after a holiday or the day after an official school closing.
