Background

  • In fall 2006, paper recycling expanded to all Suffolk buildings.
  • The bottle and can recycling program has been up and running since winter 2006.
  • Beginning with a pilot program in 2007, we implemented organics recycling in our four cafe kitchens.
  • In the spring of 2010 we launched a pilot for organics recycling in the Donahue Cafe so diners can recycle food waste.
  • In the fall of 2010 we implemented single stream recycling in all the buildings we own.
  • In the fall of 2010 we made organics recycling available to diners in the Miller Hall Cafe.

How to Recycle

Suffolk University has invested in hundreds of recycling bins which are located throughout campus.  With single stream recycling, papers and empty glass/metal/plastic can be combined in any recycling bin.  To recycle cardboard, empty the box and remove any plastic wrap, then flatten and place next to your recycling bin.

Fill out a work request through Facilities Management:

  • If you have broken office furniture equipment that is not going to be repaired
  • If you have Techno Trash (cassettes, VHS tapes, CDs, CD cases)
  • If a recycling bin or waste basket needs to be cleaned or emptied
  • If you need a recycling bin or waste basket for your office.  Indicate if you need a recycling or waste basket, and what size: deskside bin (7 gallons) or a larger bin for a common area (23 gallons).
