Dear faculty, staff and administrators,
I am pleased to announce the creation of the new Office of Institutional Planning and Research (OIPR). With the dramatic growth of the University comes the need to establish, coordinate and access reliable data relating to all aspects of our community. Each year we must report to the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, rating agencies and the media regarding the University as a whole and its constituent parts. The reporting must be consistent, reliable and insightful. The Office also serves as a resource so that we may make thoughtful, data-driven decisions about our future.
The staff of the former Office of Enrollment Research and Planning have been transferred to the new Office of Institutional Planning and Research in interim positions. Jake Deehan will serve as the Interim Director of the OIPR and Interim Research Associate for Fiscal Analysis; Megan Daley, Interim Research Associate for Student Analysis; and Barbara Pfeiffer, Interim Research Associate for Data Quality Management. These three individuals bring considerable Suffolk knowledge to their new tasks.
The new office will report to the Provost and will eventually be headed by an Assistant Provost. Over the next few months, Assistant Provost Suzanne Gallagher will assist in the transition of the new office. We anticipate that the OIPR, when fully staffed over the next two years, will have seven members. We will establish a search committee drawn from the community in the coming weeks to assist in identifying the permanent Assistant Provost for the Office of Institutional Planning and Research.
The Office of University Institutional Planning and Research will rely on your help in compiling data and providing access to data from all points across the community. Please help them in meeting this challenge and join me in welcoming the interim members of the staff as they build for the University’s future.
Thank You.
Barry Brown
Acting President and Provost
