On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am pleased to announce that the University has chosen James McCarthy as its new president. He will join us February 1 from Baruch College in New York City, where he has been provost and senior vice president for academic affairs.
Jim McCarthy is a proven academic leader and an eminent scholar who brings great vision and a wealth of experience to Suffolk University. He shares the University’s commitment to excellence in teaching and to preparing each of our students for success and lifelong learning. He is a strategic thinker and an innovator with a passion for the positive role technology can play in education. And he understands the challenges and opportunities that come with a growing institution in the heart of a great city.
At this critical juncture in the University’s history, I am exceedingly confident that Jim McCarthy is the right person to lead us into a new era of academic excellence.
We look forward to working with our new president to further cement Suffolk University’s place among the great American universities. Jim is a person who energizes those around him, and we are eager to see him connect with our entire University community.
