Creating Active Learning Materials

Faculty can use podcasts to distribute course content on the web. Lectures and class discussions can be recorded for student review and for faculty development, but podcasts can also be woven into more interactive student study groups and course assignments. Come learn podcasting production basics and brainstorm about how your classes might use them. Lunch will be provided.

A Beginners Guide to Teaching with PowerPoint

PowerPoint is a common technology used in teaching. This presentation will examine the proper and improper ways to use this tool, and is geared toward new teachers and teachers who are new to PowerPoint. Lunch will be provided.

Expanding your Classroom Through Free Web Technology: A Critical Evaluation of Teaching for Understanding with Integrated Web Media

Tuesday, April 7th, 1:00-2:30pm

Through three case studies, this workshop evaluates the effectivness of using free Web applications to expand the teaching classroom beyond traditional contact time. These media tools include Wiki software to build a community knowledge base, photo-sharing to provide critical visual feedback to students outside the design studio, and blogging to archive classroom assignments and to facilitate student questions.
