PowerPoint is a powerful presentation tool that has “invaded” academia. Used properly, it can enhance the educational environment in the classroom. Used improperly, it eliminates student interest in the subject matter. This presentation will employ PowerPoint to demonstrate both effective and ineffective uses of this software.

How can we stimulate student involvement in the classroom? Session participants will have a chance to draw students into classroom conversations and will learn from such handouts as “25 Ways to Make Your Classes More Participatory.”
Thursday, April 6
This panel discussion will define plagiarism and what constitutes illegal and legal behavior through the lenses of Modern Language Association, American Psychological Association, and institutional definitions. The panelists will examine the role played by new technologies – including electronic databases, Internet search engines, and paper mills – in the current state of college plagiarism. And they will discuss options and procedures faculty can use to deal with such acts.
