Suffolk University Students Taking Courses at Dean College

Suffolk students at Dean College are full-fledged members of the Suffolk Community and have all the same privileges as on-campus students. Because of the distance from Boston, we will try to provide as much information as we can through the web, the State Library Delivery system or the U.S. mail, and services through the Dean College Library.

  • You will receive a Suffolk University student ID number. If you wish to come to the Sawyer Library on our Boston campus, you will need to first visit the University Police security booth on Level 2 of the Sawyer Building to acquire a physical ID card.  This will allow you to gain access to the 73 Tremont Street building (that contains the Library) and can also be used to check out materials at the Circulation Desk of Sawyer Library.  The University ID is the only library card recognized on the Boston campus. This card will provide other benefits such as discounts available with a student ID.
  • Web access to Suffolk’s databases arranged by subject is available from home at http://www.suffolk.edu/sawlib/oncampdb.htm. To access the online databases you will need to input your name and student ID number, (not your barcode number).  There is no need to have a physical ID card to access our electronic resources.  Your student ID number can also be found on your registration form, bill, etc. If you experience any difficulties accessing these databases through our proxy server, please consult our off-campus troubleshooting page.
  • Because of the distance from Boston we will provide materials available at the Sawyer Library. Students may use Web-based forms to request journal articles and/or books from the Sawyer Library.

  • Remote Campus Article Request Form

  • Information about titles, both books and journals, is available through the Suffolk on-line catalog. And to check whether there is an electronic access to a particular journal, consult our Full-Text Search Engine. Materials will be shipped to the Dean College library and you will be notified when they have arrived. Periodical articles are yours to keep. Books and other circulating materials will be checked out to you and must be returned to Sawyer Library by the due date. Please bring items back to Anderson Library for shipment back to us. Overdue books will be charged a substantial fine that will be added to your bill. You will receive a credit when the book is returned, but a $5.00 processing fee is non-refundable.
  • You will be able to renew books for an additional 28 day period through the Renew Your Books option of the Archer OPAC (online catalog). Note: All circulating books are subject to recall by another user, when needed, after two weeks. If recalled, or put "on hold" by another user, a book may not be renewed.
  • Reference librarians at Sawyer Library will attempt to answer informational questions sent via e-mail to sawlib@suffolk.edu
