SAWYER LIBRARY WEB SITE:
Most of the information concerning the Sawyer Library such as its hours, services, resources, FAQ, and planning documents and reports are available from its home page.
STUDY SPACES:
The library has seating for 443 students in several seating areas and seating styles, including twenty group study rooms on the third and fourth floors. We also have individual study carrels and two- and four-seat tables. Carrels and tables provide easy access to an electrical outlet and a wired network jack for each seat. The Granary Reading Rooms, located on each floor, includes lounge seating and working fireplaces, with views of the adjacent burial ground and Tremont Street.
WIRELESS NETWORK:
The Sawyer Library provides an 802.11 a/b/g wireless network throughout the library which is maintained and supported by the University’s Information Technology Services department.
Students may borrow a laptop from the Circulation/Reserve Desk. Students are encouraged to bring their personal laptops.
To access the wireless network, students must logon using their Suffolk University email name and related password.
Students may also print to one of the six wireless networked printers located on the main floor. Laptops borrowed from the library are already configured; instructions for configuring personal laptops to access the library’s printers are available at the Circulation/Reserve Desk on the main floor.
PHOTOCOPIERS:
Photocopiers are located on each floor. They accept specific vendor cards available from a machine on the third floor of the library, or coins. Copies are 10 cents per page.
FAX MACHINE:
A fax machine (per page costs apply) is available in the Photocopy Center on the third floor during business hours Monday through Friday.
DVD/VHS PLAYBACK MEDIA:
Each of the twenty group study rooms in the Sawyer Library include a playback unit attached to a flat panel television for VHS tapes and/or DVDs. Remotes for both the playback unit and the television are available for loan at the Circulation/Reserve Desk. Additionally, the 16 research computer workstations on the main floor and the 50 laptops available for loan are configured with DVD playback drives.
