The many flavors of Madrid at Suffolk University

Our student body represents more than 25 different nationalities -extending from Europe, Asia and Africa to the Americas- reflecting Suffolk's global perspective. We encourage the sharing of ideas, the exchange of unique perspectives, and full participation in the international experience.

The Madrid Campus

Rising above the intersection of Avenida del Valle and Isaac Peral, our modern brick building blends easily into the quiet residential neighborhood.

What you'll see

Step inside, and you'll find something different going on.

  • modern, fully equipped classrooms
  • a library with high-speed internet connections to Suffolk's extensive library and databases in Boston
  • the most advanced computer systems of any American university in Madrid

And whether it's an engaging conversation in the reading room or a quiet chat in the comfort of a nearby garden, there's always something going on.

What you'll experience

Meet our students

We enroll about 175 students. They come from the European Union, including Spain. Many come from the US, while others come from Asia and Africa.

Step inside, and you'll feel the energy and excitement of our students' intellectual curiosity. They are open to re-discovering their place in the world by exploring new cultures, and we encourage the sharing of international perspectives and ideas.

Enjoy our student services

Our staff at Suffolk University Madrid Campus begins taking care of students from the time they begin the application procedure, and follows them closely through the completion of their studies.

We're available to provide information and assistance to students before they leave home. On arrival day, we greet students at the airport. We provide both academic and non-academic orientations to prepare them for their educational experience in Spain. And all students have active, knowledgeable academic advisors.

Join our community

Beyond formal academics and excursions, we invite students to participate in our active student government; in theater, film, and music activities, as well as various social gatherings that bring the entire academic community together. At the same time, our relationship with neighboring CEU San Pablo - one of Europe's leading universities - provides a broad range of cultural activities, social gatherings, and athletics.

Learning abroad as it was meant to be

The Suffolk University Madrid Campus (SUMC) stands in a quiet residential section of the university quarter, within walking distance to many of the city's universities, libraries and research institutes. Quick access to public transportation makes it easy for our students to take in all the fine museums, the theatre and vibrant culture of this major European capital.

As the only non-sectarian American university in Madrid, we welcome the broadest range of students. We have both American accreditation and official Spanish authorization.

For many, it is the experience of a lifetime.
