Intensive English Curriculum
Imagine studying English in the birthplace of America—Boston, Massachusetts. Suffolk University, a private, urban institution surrounded by Boston’s rich culture, business, and history offers you such an opportunity! Designed for students 16 years and older, our intensive ESL curriculum is based on academic English and takes advantage of our location in the heart of Boston. Students will meet with instructors for 20 hours a week for classes and cultural activities that focus on English skills instruction and introduce topics in history, art, science, and business. Instruction includes traditional methods as well as computer-mediated learning, field trips, guest speakers, and training in public speaking. This content-based approach will give students the opportunity to improve their English fluency while experiencing the rigors of university study in the United States.
Full Access and Activities
Summer English Language Institute participants will have full access to Suffolk University’s facilities, including the libraries, study halls, athletic facilities, special events, and computer labs. In addition, students will be invited to participate in a number of cultural and recreational trips in New England. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a certificate of merit, as well as an official transcript from Suffolk University.
During their stay in Boston, participants will be housed in one of our modern, air-conditioned residence halls. These accommodations offer 24-hour security, an on-site cafeteria, laundry facilities, computer labs, lounges, and a view that overlooks Boston Common. Located in the heart of downtown, the residence halls are just steps from Boston’s shopping and theater districts, as well as the Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall, Newbury Street, Fenway Park, and the hub of Boston’s public transportation system—Park Street Station.
