Upward Bound Program

Upward Bound (UB) at Suffolk University is a federally funded program under the Department of Education that seeks to increase college access and educational opportunities for first-generation and/or low-income students. Our focus is on college acceptance and attendance, and all students are supported through graduation from high school.

Our Core Services

Upward Bound participants receive academic enrichment and guidance throughout high school in accordance to the rigorous curriculum standards set by Boston Public Schools. Our program tracks students throughout their high school careers, providing timely and appropriate information about the college application and financial aid process.

After-School Tutoring

Students receive additional support in all required courses, in collaboration with Boston Public Schools.

Supplemental Instruction

Suffolk hosts intensive academic sessions, including classes in mathematics, science, and English and workshops focused on SAT and MCAS preparation.

College Readiness

Students take several college tours throughout the school year. Senior seminars provide students with assistance navigating the application and financial aid process for college. Students may also participate in service learning and resume development opportunities.

Summer Program

For six weeks during the summer, students can visit and live on the Suffolk campus. During this time, they take courses, enjoy enriching social and cultural activities, and participate in service and vocational learning opportunities.
