Want to give back? Become an SBS peer mentor and build your leadership skills while making a difference.

Why mentor?

Mentors make a positive impact on the experience of first-year students. In return, you build your leadership and communication skills, expand your business networks, develop patience, insight, and understanding, and gain satisfaction in sharing knowledge.

What is expected of me?

You are required to maintain a 3.0 or above cumulative GPA, good academic standing, and attend training workshops and scheduled meetings. Also, you are expected to meet with their mentee(s) at least once every two weeks.

How do I apply to be a mentor?

You are five easy steps away from making a difference:

1. Make sure you meet these requirements:

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Junior/senior standing
  • Good academic standing

2. Get two references’ contact information and have one of them email a recommendation letter to Shannon Conley

3. Complete the online application

4. Email your resume to Shannon Conley

5. Do it all before May 12th

Q: Will this program fulfill the Local Engagement Experience requirement?

A: If you participate in the program for a full academic year, yes.

Q: What will I do with my mentee?

A: The type of relationship you build with your mentee is completely up to the two of you. In your first meeting, you will talk about your goals and how to maintain contact with one another.

Q. What is the matching criteria?

A: The program matches first-year undergraduate students with juniors/seniors who have similar career and personal interests.

Q. How long will I be enrolled in the program?

A: You and your mentee commit to either a semester or a year-long one-to-one relationship with the purpose of creating a professional and mutually beneficial partnership. Of course, we hope that this relationship will far outlast your college journey.
