Recent Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) graduate Tara Sedlak found a home away from home at Suffolk University.
Nearly two years ago, the Florida native moved to Boston to pursue her MHA degree—it’s a decision that turned out to be one of the best she’s ever made.
During her commencement address, Sedlak admitted that graduating was a “bittersweet milestone.” While she was excited to take home her degree, a part of her will always remain at Suffolk. “These peers, with whom I have shared many experiences, have grown to be my family away from family,” she said.
Suffolk faculty, staff, and alumni were also key resources for Sedlak. As a student, she participated in the mentorship program, where she met with a Suffolk alum who helped her set career goals. She also completed an internship, which has led to a full-time position at a top academic medical center in Boston.
“I am personally grateful for the foundation Suffolk has provided and the opportunities it has afforded,” Sedlak said.
Her advice to fellow graduates? “Hold fast to this support network and to always remember that you are part of something irreplaceable—the Suffolk family.
