Each ceremony will last approximately two hours. Doors will open 45 minutes prior to each ceremony. You are expected to remain in your seat throughout the entire ceremony.
Invitations and Tickets
Commencement invitations are provided to students as commemorative items and cannot be used for entry to the ceremony. Because there is limited seating at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion, students in the Sawyer Business School and College of Arts & Sciences will receive a limited number of tickets each. Information regarding a lottery for additional tickets (if available) will be sent to students in early May. Students in Suffolk Law School will receive a limited number of tickets each. Students participating in the ceremony do not need a ticket to attend. Children under the age of three do not need a ticket. Due to the limited seating capacity, lost tickets cannot be replaced.
Commencement Participants: If your family members and friends will be traveling to the United States from abroad to attend Commencement, they may need a visa. Please encourage them to contact their closest U.S. Embassy or Consulate and follow the instructions provided by the U.S. State Department. Helpful information can also be found through the website: travel.state.gov. The Division of Student Success provides letters confirming the date of the 2019 Spring Commencement. Students may request a Commencement letter at the front desk of the Division of Student Success, 9th floor of 73 Tremont Street, Monday through Friday from 8:45am to 4:45pm.
Families attending Suffolk University Commencement exercises have the option to stay on campus at the 10 West, Modern Theater, and 150 Tremont Street Residence Halls. Nightly rates are $71 per person for a single room/shared bath and $63 per person for a double room/shared bath.
Continental breakfast, bed linens, a pillow, and bath towels as well as Wi-Fi are included in your nightly rate.
Guests may stay up to three (3) nights (no stay minimum). Rooms are available starting Friday, May 17, through Monday, May 20.

Photos & Videos at Commencement
Guests, including personally-hired photographers, are welcome to take photographs and video during the ceremony only in the designated areas. They will not be permitted in the roped-off areas or in the aisles. Drones are not permitted at the Pavilion. Due to security rules inside the Pavilion and federal law governing the use of drones within close proximity to airports, drones are not permitted inside or in the surrounding area around the Pavilion.
Please note that personal photographers are not given press passes and must present a ticket in order to enter the pavilion.
Suffolk University has arranged to have a professional photographer take pictures of graduating students as they cross the stage.

Due to the limited time between ceremonies, graduates and guests must exit the pavilion immediately following the ceremony. There will be a specially designated spot outside the pavilion for taking photos after each ceremony.

Guests may wish to make reservations for a meal before or after their graduate’s ceremony. There are many restaurants in close proximity to the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion [PDF].
If your schedule allows, you may also want to explore Boston while you are in town. There are historical and cultural landmarks near the pavilion [PDF] or just a short T ride or drive away.
