It is with a heavy heart that Suffolk Law shares the news of The Honorable John E. Fenton, Jr.’s passing on Sunday, August 24, 2014.

Judge Fenton was a beloved member of our community. He served Suffolk Law School as a member of the faculty for 37 years before becoming Dean in 1994, a position in which he served until 1998.

Between 1974 and 1994 Judge Fenton served as Chief Justice for Administration and Management of the Massachusetts Land Court. He also led the planning and fundraising efforts for the new law school building. In 1999 he was named a Distinguished Professor of Law. Upon his retirement in 2013, Judge Fenton was named Professor Emeritus. The link to the obituary for Judge Fenton can be found here.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street Andover, MA. A burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
