Elif Armbruster, English. Her book Domestic Biographies: Stowe, Howells, James, and Wharton at Home received a “Highly Recommended” review from CHOICE, the premier source for reviews of academic books, electronic media and Internet resources of interest to those in higher education.

Wyatt Bonikowski, English, published a short story “Little Man” in The Fairy Tale Review: The Grey Issue.

Jennifer Barber, English, has published a book of poetry, Given Away.

Krisanne Bursik, associate dean of the College, and Suffolk University alumna Mandi White-Ajmani, PhD, have published their co-authored manuscript “What Lies Beneath: Dogmatism, Intolerance, and Political Self-Identification” in the peer-reviewed Individual Differences Research, 2011, 9(3).

Rose DiBiase, Education and Human Services, published an article “Predicting Feelings of Cognitive Competence in Head Start Preschoolers” in The Journal of Genetic Psychology: Research and Theory on Human Development.

C. Gopinath, Strategy & International Business, published “A systems framework for globalization” in the International Journal of Business and Globalization.

Debra Harkins, Psychology, and Lauren Mizock, a doctoral student and Outreach fellow, have published a book Researcher Race: Social Constructions in the Research Process.

Micky Lee, Communication and Journalism, published an essay “Mediating Women Workers in Fair Trade and Sweat free Production” in Feminist Media Studies. The International Journal of Communication has published her book reviews of Activist Media and Biopolitics and Communication Activism (co-edited by Kevin Carragee of Communication and Journalism) and “Television as a site, place, and space.” She also had a journal paper “Information and finance capital” accepted for publication in Information, Communication and Society.

Bernice Martin, Biology, has published two articles in eLS, formerly The Encyclopedia of Life Sciences. They are “Safety Considerations in the Tissue Culture Laboratory” and “Clonal Isolation and Plating Efficiency.”

Tryan L. McMickens, visiting professor, Administration of Higher Education, Education and Human Services. He published “Running the race when race is a factor” in Phi Delta Kappan.

Quentin Miller, English, published “Myoclonus of the Diaphragm,” a work of flash fiction, in the online journal The Atticus Review, May 20, 2012. His short story “Deep in the Brain” was included in Spilling Ink Review, and he also published an essay “Free Men in Paris: The Shared Sensibility of James Baldwin and Ernest Hemingway” in Hemingway and the Black Renaissance. In addition he published a book “A Criminal Power": James Baldwin and the Law.

Sebastián Royo, associate dean of the College and director of the Madrid campus. His article "¿Dónde está la alternativa?" ("Where is the Alternative?") appeared in the March 16 issue of Cinco Días. He published "The Europeanization of Portuguese Interest Groups? Trade Unions and Employers' Associations" in The Europeanization of Portuguese Democracy.

Ronald Suleski, director, Rosenberg Institute for East Asian Studies. His review of the book Conduits for Change: Manchurian railways and the opening of China was published in Transactions of the Asiatic Society of Japan, Series Five, Vol. 3.

Allan Tow, Education and Human Services. His article “From Take-Out Counter to Podium: Journeys into Public Life” was published in the Chronicle of the Chinese Historical Society of New England. It describes several activists in New England who were owners of Chinese restaurants including the well-known China Pearl in Boston’s Chinatown.

Peter Jeffreys, English, received the 2011 National Translation Prize awarded by the Greek Ministry of Culture for his translation of C.P. Cavafy’s Selected Prose Works, the first edition of the Greek poet’s prose writings to appear in English translation.
