PROVIDENCE, R.I.-- A pair of come-from-behind three-set singles victories from junior Kellie Sturma (Newman, Ga.) and sophomore Catarina Rosa (Fall River, Mass.) enabled Suffolk to remain unbeaten on the young season with a 5-4 Great Northeast Athletic Conference women’s tennis dual-match triumph over Johnson & Wales Saturday afternoon on the Moses Brown Courts.

Sturma and Rosa each dropped their respective first sets at the number one and four singles spots, respectively, for the visiting Rams (5-0, 3-0 Great Northeast), as Sturma rallied to take the next two sets while dropping just one game while Rosa posted a pair of 6-2 set triumphs. Sophomore Kaitlynn Cates (Middlebury, Conn.) notched a straight set win at number two singles for Suffolk and teamed with Sturma for an 8-3 win at number one doubles, while the tandem of Rosa and freshman Alex Hernandez (Newton, Mass.) posted the final point for the visitors with an 8-6 triumph at number two doubles. 

Juniors Jessica Cohen (Norton, Mass.), Jessica Flammia (Clark, N.J.) and Sandra Connelly (Seymour, Conn.) each posted singles victories in the setback for the host Wildcats (3-3, 1-2 Great Northeast), while the duo of Emily Sanders and Jenna Mastronardi teamed up for an 8-2 win at number three doubles for Johnson & Wales.

Suffolk hosts Pine Manor in a Great Northeast dual-match on Monday evening at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols beginning at 6:30 p.m., while Johnson & Wales hosts Worcester State in a non-league dual-match on Monday afternoon on the Moses Brown Courts beginning at 3:30 p.m.
