Suffolk’s Answer Man
Bob Rosenthal is a man of many titles. Chair of the Communication and Journalism Department. Associate professor. Media specialist.
Now you can add Trivia Expert to his areas of expertise.
During a recent edition of "BroadSide," the popular daily news/opinion show on New England Cable News, Rosenthal walked away as champion of the trivia segment. He beat out NECN veteran meteorologist Tim Kelley and sports anchor/reporter Kevin Walsh in a hotly contested battle.
“It was a friendly competition and a very enjoyable experience,” said Rosenthal. “We all had a good time, particularly the banter we shared during the commercial breaks.”
Laughing, he said: “I was pumped up that I won, because I was on the show about 18 months ago with two other people and I came in third.”
Entering the final round of competition, Kelly held a slight lead (8½ points) over Rosenthal (7 points) and Walsh 6½ points). That’s when Rosenthal made a dramatic comeback.
He was the only one to correctly answer the final question, worth three points:
There will be two sports added to the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympic Games. One is golf. What is the other?
“The correct answer was rugby, and I knew that because I read about it in The Boston Globe that morning,” said Rosenthal.
“The final question was fun because you had to put your answer on a card and turn it over like in the game show Jeopardy.”
Asked if he received a prize for his winning effort, Rosenthal said, “Just bragging rights. And that’s good enough for me.”
