On June 13, Suffolk University’s Graduate Programs in Accounting & Taxation and the Internal Revenue Service are hosting a Tax Seminar on the Affordable Care Act, the Fresh Start Initiative, and the appeals process.

The Affordable Care Act, enacted in March 2010, is designed to improve access to affordable health coverage. Attendees will learn about the Act’s current and future tax provisions.

Participants will gain a better understanding of the Fresh Start Initiative, which the IRS expanded in March 2012. The initiative helps struggling taxpayers by providing new penalty relief to the unemployed and increasing the availability of Installment Agreements.

Speakers will also discuss the appeals process and how tax law disputes can be resolved on a fair and impartial basis.

The seminar will be held at 8:00-10:00am in the Trustees’ Conference Room on the 12th floor of Suffolk University’s Rosalie Stahl Center.

Attendees can earn two hours of CPE credit.

Registration is $25 and includes breakfast. Space is limited.
